What are they?

They are extremely fine (thinner than a hair) threads made of Polydioxanone, which slowly becomes decomposed by the body.

How do they work?

The protein polydioxanone, until it becomes decomposed, causes a foreign-body reaction with highly beneficial effects:

  • It reduces muscle contractibility.
  • It enhances hematosis.
  • It accelerates collagen production.
  • It increases elastin and the accumulation of hyaluronic acid.

All these effects together help towards a younger- looking, firmer and hydrated skin.

How are the threads inserted?

These very fine threads are introduced into the skin and parallel to it, via very fine needles, from an entry point. A slight pricking feeling occurs at this stage, while the rest of the course of both needle and thread under the skin is totally painless. We can eliminate even the slight pricking pain, by applying topical anesthetic lotion prior to the treatment.

The threads are placed parallel to one another at a distance of approximately 1 cm. They come in various lengths, according to the area we wish to treat.

PDO threads rejuvenation

Are they safe?

PDO threads have over a decade long safety track record in surgery, while they have gained FDA approval.

Where can they be applied?

It is a versatile treatment, which can be used in any part of the face and neck, to treat sagging brows, vertical and horizontal forehead lines, drooping cheeks etc. as well as in various other sagging body parts such as arms, thighs, buttocks, abdomen and chest.

When can I see the results? How long do they last?

The treatment results in an immediate improvement in the freshness and texture of the skin’s appearance, but the results will improve over the 14 ensuing days, as the PDO stimulates the increase of collagen in the skin. In about 12 weeks the thread material has been completely absorbed by the body, but the process of collagen and elastin composition continues and culminates in about 6 months.
